Jen Reeder was our designer at Cowichan Woodwork. We were excited building our retirement home in Lake Cowichan and Jen was thoughtful in her suggestions giving choices carefully explaining the advantages of each option. Jen was always available or returning calls promptly. The craftsmanship of our kitchen is superb with material for touch up over time, so far none needed. We were pleased that Jen returned to take photographs of a kitchen that made us proud.

Last year, 2018, we enlisted Cowichan Woodwork to do the centre island & the cupboards & counters in our kitchen and pantry. Jen was our design consultant on the project.
It was not a straightforward job as the counter of our kitchen is along a rounded wall.
From the beginning, Jen approached the job with confidence, and skillful attention to detail. We found she listened well to our desires and yet when we were indecisive, she would step up and offer advice and alternatives. We learned to trust her wisdom and yet we always felt creatively involved in the project.
There were times when quick decisions had to be made, and she was readily available, patient and helpfully involved.
We pushed the deadline towards the end, an important family event was approaching, and Jen made the kitchen all come together on time.
So yes, our experience working with Cowichan Woodwork and Jen is very positive and I might also add, the cupboards and counters are beautifully well crafted.

Cowichan Woodwork is in a league of their own when it comes to exceptional design, outstanding quality, and utmost professionalism. We place great value in the importance of supporting local Cowichan Valley companies and we were fortunate to work with the Cowichan Woodwork team on our latest build. Coleen is a skilled and masterful designer whose remarkable eye for detail has resulted in cabinetry that is not only highly functional but is also a work of art. From the beautiful arched designs and pullouts in the kitchen, to the floating shelves in the great room, the drying rack in the laundry room, and the lockers in the mud room, Coleen’s stunning designs and Aaron’s quality mill-work are second to none. We were also impressed with the dedication and attention to detail shown by Isaak on his cabinet install. Any issues that came up were addressed competently and in a timely manner. Thank-you Cowichan Woodwork for providing an amazing product that our family will enjoy for many years to come! Jennifer & Shawn

We just finished building a custom home in Sooke and Cowichan Woodwork did our kitchen and bathroom. The work in both spaces is spectacular. The cabinets are of top quality of the craftsmanship in function and appearance. Coleen was helpful and accommodating. We would highly recommend.

After much planning I was so excited to finally see my kitchen come to life. I had studied all the provided 3d drawings from Coleen Walters so I knew exactly what I was getting. I met with Coleen many times and she was patient with all my ideas. Down to earth, respectful of my budget and providing cost options along the way. All the way across the board Cowichan Woodwork was top notch to deal with from Gordon to the installers - I can't say enough about their product and their conduct on the job site.

My husband and I are very pleased with our new kitchen that was designed and installed by Cowichan Woodwork. The owner, Gordon, runs a professional, client-centred company. We ran into a couple of glitches and the company was flexible and accommodating. Pamela was a pleasure to work with and her expertise enabled us to create our dream kitchen. I checked out two other companies but Pamela really understood what we wanted. Issac installed the cabinetry and was detail-oriented and a true craftsman. My husband dealt with Aaron who was also great. Thank you to all of you at Cowichan Woodwork who worked on our kitchen renovation!

Having just settled in to our new home, I am pleased to say that the Cowichan Woodwork team skillfully mastered the custom designs, production and installation of all the built-in cabinetry throughout the project. From our experience, Cowichan Woodwork is an honest company that seems to pride itself on the exceptional quality of their products and craftsmanship, their attention to detail and strong work ethic. The staff are friendly, professional, accommodating, and genuinely care about the satisfaction of their customers. Everyone involved in our project went over and above to ensure that we were absolutely happy with their work and made any necessary adjustments to perfection! Our project was very challenging with various spaces requiring built-in cabinetry: kitchen and pantry, living room/dinning area, a guest bedroom, master ensuite and walk in closet two guest bathrooms, laundry area, boot room and dog/storage room. We also had a rental suite which included a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with custom cabinetry . Coleen Walters, our design consultant, being excellent at her craft successfully managed this very large project. She spent many involved hours discussing ideas and drafting up plans that reflected her meticulous attention to the details of design, measurement and installation requirements. Coleen worked very hard at making any modifications necessary in order to produce designs that not only matched our functional needs, but also that were aesthetically pleasing and cohesive. We really appreciated Coleen's flexibility and willingness to work collaboratively with our interior designer, Tina Moizer, on the living room fireplace/shelving display area and to integrate Tina's suggestions in other areas where appropriate. We absolutely love all the functional and flowing spaces that Coleen helped to create, especially our gorgeous kitchen. We would highly recommend Coleen and the entire Cowichan Woodwork team. A huge thank you to everyone involved in our project !!

We give the highest marks to Gordon Smith, Coleen Walters, Aaron and Crew. Our renovation project in North Saanich was more than a bit outside the box as far as cabinet design and finishes. Their collaboration with others resulted in a beautiful, fresh kitchen, that is a pleasure to work in. Bathroom upgrades, window seats and a builtin desk unit were expertly fitted adding a classy dimension to our Mediterranean style beach house. As each quirky wrinkle appeared, the team at Cowichan found solutions. Design, construction, installation all rank in the exceptional category. Bravo and wishing you every success in 2018.

We commissioned Jen and her crew to do a complete kitchen Reno. I asked for ideas and she came up with plans for an absolutely beautiful kitchen. She was a delight to work with and her attention to detail was really impressive. She was always available to answer questions and come up with suggestions whenever asked. I love my new kitchen and I would recommend Jen to
anyone contemplating a new kitchen. Also, my cabinets are beautiful and the installers did an excellent job.

Having worked with them on a previous kitchen renovation project, I returned to Cowichan Woodwork for my new construction project without hesitation. True to form and once again, Coleen Walters delivered an exceptional design and customer service experience, which included countless drafts, iterations and communications over several months. I know this firm is in high demand with a long and active client roster and yet, Coleen always responded to my concerns as if mine was Cowichan Woodwork's only project. Aaron and Isaac then meticulously turned design into reality with solid products, craftsmanship and installation and Gordon offered creative and supportive scheduling solutions that worked within the confines of our somewhat difficult and narrow timelines. The project was completed on time and on budget and the end result exceeded my already high expectations. I couldn't recommend this wonderful team highly enough.

My husband and I recently built our retirement home in the Cowichan Valley area. Our builder strongly recommended Cowichan Woodwork for our cabinetry due to his previous experience with them and the high quality of work they produce. Our home had several areas that required cabinetry – kitchen, 3 baths (including Master ensuite), laundry room, and utility/mud room – so fairly large in scope. We did not live in the area during the design and building of our home (a plane flight away), so this added another layer of complexity. I should probably add that I’m quite particular about what I like and picky about details and quality of craftsmanship. Not like other people aren’t, but I sometimes can go a bit overboard (at least I admit it and try to manage it, which hopefully saves me from being a client-zilla). Cowichan Woodwork did an excellent job from start to finish, from the design all the way through millwork, install, and touch-ups. During the design phase, Coleen worked with our designer and me to understand what my husband and I wanted and provided good suggestions when we weren’t certain. Coleen created several drawings throughout the process so we could see what different configurations would look like. This was especially helpful due to us not living in the area. When one of the products I wanted was no longer available, she was able to suggest another option that I wound up liking just as much. She also accommodated a few last minute changes, one of which helped make the kitchen that much more functional. I had a vision about what I wanted certain areas to look like, particularly the colour of walnut I wanted in the kitchen. Cowichan Woodwork carefully selected the wood from several sheets and was able to configure it all in a way that made it harmonize beautifully. There is a section with glass cabinetry that bridges into our living room, and the placement, colour, and graining are absolutely stunning. All of the other areas turned out really well, too. The installation crew was excellent. They were all friendly, and it was apparent that they cared about the quality of their work. I was especially impressed by Mike pointing out a handle size in one section that was different from the others in another section before he drilled the holes. This was something our designer and I had gone over multiple times prior to selecting the size we did. Having him point it out to us again in the actual space gave us time to revisit our choice, and we wound up switching it. You’d be hard-pressed to find an installation crew who was that attentive to details and cared enough to notify the client about something like that. Another factor that really impressed me was how nice all the staff were. Even if someone didn't have a clue who I was, I was always met with a genuine smile, friendly ‘hello,’ and offers to assist me when I went into the showroom. I visited Cowichan Woodwork multiple times to look at and ponder products; they have a fantastic range of cabinetry, handles, and countertops from which to select. With any project there are bound to be a few hiccups, especially one with the scope of ours. Challenges with our project included deadlines/timing (what project doesn’t have this), a misinterpreted drawing by a supplier, a dented cabinet door, and a countertop flaw. I thought that Cowichan Woodwork resolved these issues in a timely, effective, and highly cooperative manner. Would we work with Cowichan Woodwork again? Definitely. Would we recommend them? Without hesitation. Thank you, Cowichan Woodwork, for helping us create an incredible home which we will enjoy for many years!

Given the relatively small footprint of our new kitchen, we had limited options but are very happy with the outcome of our renovation. Cowichan Woodworking – especially Coleen and Isaak – were accommodating, professional, and punctual. Ours was a somewhat unusual circumstance in that all the planning and design work was done ‘virtually’, as we were living outside of Canada at the time. We relied heavily on Coleen to be our ‘eyes’, and were very happy with her design and product suggestions. We had very tight deadlines, all of which were met. The cabinets are quality-built and were installed meticulously. It is a pleasure to work in our new kitchen in no small measure due to the work done by Cowichan Woodworking.
