This contract included very specific requirements to integrate some complex equipment, custom stainless steel counters and sinks, and electrical components. All aspects were completed with Forest Stewardship Council labelled products, soy based glues, and no added urea-formaldehyde.
Cowichan Woodwork is a fully certified FSC facility. The Eastern Maple cabinets have a more calming and natural feel than colour would in this professional space, adding to the sunny atmosphere created with the large windows. Although we needed to create with practical considerations, our design integrated the human aspect of function in the space. All counter tops are Chemsurface laminate, able to resist the inevitable. As well as the Sturgeon Facility in Nanaimo, we were fortunate to be able to complete the research labs at the Deep Bay Research Station. This is a gorgeous facility from an architectural perspective, situated on the shores of Deep Bay on Vancouver Island.
